So sometimes these fight or flight responses can be activated for no obvious reason out of the blue and can be extremely exaggerated and alarming.
They could either fight or flee. Adrenaline helps your body react more quickly. Adrenaline is also known as the fight or flight hormone it s released in response to a stressful exciting dangerous or threatening situation. Normally when you encounter a threat whether it s a grizzly bear or a swerving car your nervous system.
However our bodies can find it hard to distinguish between the stress of real danger and everyday stress such as work deadlines rush hour traffic bills illness relationship problems and so on. The fight or flight response also called hyperarousal or the acute stress response is a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event attack or threat to survival. Again it could be any form of trauma where the initial response to the exposure the stimulus or the injury was appropriate. We evolved fight or flight to help us deal with life threatening danger.
Someone is breaking into your house. For example imagine you are asleep at night alone in your house and you are woken by the sound of shattering glass. Unfortunately many people are stuck in fight or flight mode. When something stressful happens our body goes into fight or flight mode pumping out stress hormones raising blood pressure and pulse and shunting blood away from the organs and towards the limbs.

So usually we say it s a combination of traumas that lead to the perfect storm that causes or initiates limbic system impairment. It was first described by walter bradford cannon. The term fight or flight represents the choices that our ancient ancestors had when faced with danger in their environment.
